Mr. Alex Banks Wilson was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 21, 1967, to the late William and Patricia Wilson. He went on to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Alex was a happy child and did not meet any strangers. He began his schooling in Philadelphia and finished in Greensboro NC. Growing up in Philadelphia, Alex was a member of the First Church of Love, Faith, and Deliverance, under the leadership of the late Pastor Rosie Wallace-Brown. This is where his love for singing and music began. Later, Alex, his mother and siblings relocated to Salisbury, NC. Once his family settled, they became members of Mt. Calvary Holy Church in Salisbury, NC under the leadership of Bishop Harvey L. Rice, Sr. He participated in numerous ministries in the church and loved to attend all the Church Conventions. Later in life, Alex joined Tower of Power United Holy Church in Salisbury, NC where he served under the leadership of Pastor Anthony L. Williams. Alex's work history mirrored his love and passion for people. He worked in restaurants, hospitality and was a caretaker for several nursing homes. Everyone knew him and he knew everyone. He was a loving and giving man and his laughter was contagious. Alex was also known for his very particular fashion sense. He kept his hair stylish and had a real love for shoes. In 1990, Alex met the love of his life, Susanne Whitley, to whom he later married on April 21, 2007. When you saw one, you saw the other. Alex and Susanne were parental mentors to many. He was a family man and loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own. Alex was proceeded in death by his father, William C. Wilson, Sr; mother, Reverend Patricia H. Wilson: sisters, Deborah L. Jones and Sheri A. Wilson and nephew, Alvetro Black. He leaves to cherish dear memories: his devoted wife, Susanne Wilson; son, Brandon Mason; brother, William C. Wilson Jr: sister, Sonya A. Wilson; God sister, Elder Patricia McDaniel; mother figure, Carolyn Blackwell; grandsons, Josiah Mason and Liam Mason; nieces, Rasheeda Lewis, Nakisha Black, Patricia Wilson, Monica Wilson, Nicole Black, Andrea Avery (Brian), Simone Vann (Mark) and a host of other family and friends. Alex was fighter! As he sang, "I Surrender All" in his hospital bed on December 17, 2022, he clearly expressed his ever-ready heart to be with Jesus
