Bishop Willie Joseph Gray

Bishop Willie Joseph Gray of Foster Road in Woodleaf, North Carolina, passed on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Iredell Health System in Statesville, North Carolina. Bishop Gray was born in Rowan County on October 29, 1935 to the late, Bishop W.O.K. Gray and Mrs. Minnie Lee Fisher Gray. Bishop Gray lived a fulfilling life teaching and preaching Gods word as the Bishop & Founder of Freedom United Church of God and Bishop of New Jerusalem Holiness Church both located in Woodleaf, North Carolina. He was a veteran and served in the US Army. Before retirement he worked as a welder for Beacon Construction Company and enjoyed working on his antique Ford truck. Bishop Gray was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Craig Gray; three brothers, Clarence William Gray, Sr., James Arthur Gray and Bishop Junior Gray; two sisters, Jean Esther Gray and Mary Nora Geter. Those who will forever cherish his memory are his wife, Mrs. Juanita Hamilton Gray of the home; son, Reginald Lee Hamilton (Tanja) of Appling, GA; daughter-in-law, Mellba Cindale Gray Nelson (Micheal) of Hickory, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Rekeshia Shanel, Reginald Devonte Hamilton, Angel Cintisha Teloria and Jasmine Victoria Gray; one great-grandchild, Cinlee Jo Ramseur; two brothers, Bishop E. L. Gray (Evelyn) Statesville and Raymond Gray (Dorothy) Woodleaf; five sisters, Addie Burnett of Kernersvlle, Thelma Lazenby of Salisbury, Naomi Watkins (Leon), Mary Jo Imes (Leon) and Alice Cleveland (Henry) all of Woodleaf; and three sisters-in-law, Henreitta Gray, Mary Lois Gray of Woodleaf and Blanche Parker of Statesville. Funeral arrangements are Saturday, August 6, 2022, visitation 12 p.m. followed by service 1 p.m., at Freedom United Church of God, Woodleaf, North Carolina. Interment Church Cemetery.
