Mr. Christopher Lamont Marlin, age 67 was born in Forsyth County on June 11, 1957, to the late Carl Marlin, Sr. and the late Bessie Christine Eccles Marlin. He departed his life on Tuesday March 11, 2025.
Chris was educated in Rowan County Schools and was a 1974 graduate of Salisbury High School. Following graduation, he entered the military, where he had the opportunity to travel the world and experience different cultures. Chris later worked as a painter at Salisbury Parks and Recreation; and retired from Trinity Oaks.
A man of faith, Chris was reared in Ardis Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. He later joined Fairview Heights Baptist Church.
Chris had a passion for life's simple joys. He loved fishing, music, and watching western movies. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a chance to cheer for his team. He also had a special love for MTV, Hot Wheels cars, and racetracks. As a collector, he enjoyed collecting guns.
One of Chris's favorite pastimes was sitting on the porch, sipping coffee, and engaging in conversations with everyone. He never met a stranger—his warmth and friendliness made him be loved by others. Chris was deeply passionate about education and often shared the importance of learning with those around him. A humble man, he was admired and loved by many.
Chris was a devoted husband, father, sibling, grandfather, and friend. He was proceeded in death by his siblings, Carl Marlin, Jr. and Samuel H. Marlin. Those who are left to cherish his memories is his wife of 28 years, Karen Peoples Marlin of the home; son, Demario (Alecia) Peoples of Salisbury, NC; daughter Latoya Sifford (Michael) Hawkins of Lexington, NC; five grandchildren – Kahla McCauley, A'Zariyah Peoples, De'Nasia McCauley, Demario Peoples, Jr, and his favorite of the bunch -A'Laysia Peoples.
Also to cherish his memories are two brothers, Dannie (Gayle) Boston of San Diego, CA, and Rev. Clarence (Evangelist Cathye) Marlin of Salisbury, NC.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Miller Marlin and Wanda Peoples, both of Salisbury, NC; one brother-in law, John Peoples; and a special nephew, Samuel Marvette (Jamarla) Marlin; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
