CLEVELAND - Mrs. Emma Jane Fisher Ellis 77, passed away on December 2, 2012, at Davis Regional Medical Center, Statesville North Carolina, after a serious illness of one week.
Emma Jane Fisher Ellis was born in Rowan County on July 21, 1935 to the late Arthur and Viola Fisher.
Emma Jane joined Cedar Grove AME Zion Church at an early age, where she served as Usher, Missionary, Gospel Choir, Lay Council and Kitchen Committee member.
Emma Jane was a 1955 graduate of R. A. Clement High School and was previously employed at Cannon Mills.
Emma Jane was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Smith, Sr., and second husband, Robert Pete Ellis; two sons, Aaron Fisher, and Rodney Smith; one daughter, Sandra Smith; four brothers, Jacob, James, Theodore and William Fisher; and one sister, Arvesta Fisher.
Those left to mourn her death and cherish her memory of her life are: three daughters, Evangelist Shelia Bush, Carolyn Smith and Rachael Smith all of Salisbury; one son, Charles Steven Smith of the home; one brother, Booker T. (Thomasina) Fisher of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Gregory (Jennifer) Smith, Emily Smith, Tiffany Smith, Melanie Neely, Bria Neely, Justin Franklin and Jordan Smith; seven great grandchldren, Rashad Smith, Malaysia Smith, Nala Hughes, Amora Porterfield, Khloe Burrof-Smith, Zachariah Franklin and Emma Burroff-Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Visitation and Service:
Visitation is Wednesday, December 5, at 1:30 p.m., followed by service at 2 p.m., at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church,Cleveland, North Carolina. Rev. Bertha Pittman is officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. Boone-Carroll Funeral Home of Cleveland is assisting the Ellis family.
