Mrs. Faye Ann Porter

Mrs. Faye Ann Lewis Porter was born in Iredell County on May 20, 1936. She was the daughter of the late William Washington Lewis and Nannie Neal Carson Lewis. She passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem, North Carolina, Saturday, January 16, 2021. She attended Unity High School and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hamptonville, North Carolina, where she sung in the choir. Nanny Faye, as she was affectionately called, was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She worked at QST as a seamstress for many years. She really enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and loved ones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Porter; a son Johnny Ray Porter; a daughter Sherrye Porter; eight siblings, Mary Lois Rose, Carson Lewis, Clyde "Bruh" Lewis, Hassel Lewis, Tony Lewis, Clois "Soote" Lewis, Emma Studevent, and Gywnolyn Ikard. Left to cherish her memories is her son, Roary Porter; one sister, Barbara Jean Lewis; nine grandchildren, Anthony (Angie) Porter, Monica Porter, Tasheena Porter, Tory Porter, Kebria (Maurice) Wilson, Shannon Porter, Tanea Porter, Asia Marlon, and Keaira Smith; a sister-in-law, Marcella Lewis; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews; a special friend Margaret Shoffner and many other friends. Funeral arrangements are Saturday, January 23, 2021, with visitation at 1p.m., followed by service 1:30p.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Hamptonville, North Carolina.
