Mr. James Adam Cook

Spencer: Mr. James Adam Cook, age 85, son of the late Pearlie Mae Perkins Cook Johnson and Lewis Cook and stepfather J.T. Johnson was born March 19, 1936, in Salisbury, North Carolina. On Sunday, November 14, 2021, he exchanged life for eternal life. James worked at Cannon Mills and went on to become self-employed, learning many trades and even building our childhood home. James also helped build this very church that we are all sitting in, as well as many other projects all over Rowan County. James has been a lifelong member of Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and serve as a Deacon and achieved Emeritus status. He also received numerous awards throughout the years for his service in the church. He is preceded in death by his parents Pearlie Mae Perkins Cook Johnson, Lewis Cook, and J.T. Johnson; two sisters, Annie Mae Cook Clark and El'nora Johnson Sellers. James will truly be missed by his surviving wife, Mildred Elizabeth Cook. James and Mildred were married for 63 loving years. James and Mildred share three daughters, Beatrice Cook House, Teresa Cook, and Pamela Cook Leblanc; six grandchildren, Byron House, James House, Kisha Cook, Kabrina Cook, Kenyetta LeBlanc Taylor and Andrew LeBlanc; 19 amazing great-grandchildren and a great-great-grand child. He was a dedicated Primitive Baptist Church member, who loved hymns and one of his favorite hymns was Hymn #125: Guide me, O thou great Jehovah. Service: Friday, November 19, 2021, with visitation at 12:00p.m., followed by service 12:30p.m., at Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
