Mr. John Albert Thomas was born on September 19, 1963 to the late James Albert Thomas and Ophelia Powell in Reidsville, NC. He departed this life on Sunday, June 29, 2014 surrounded by the love of his children and family.
Affectionately called John-John, he was educated in the Guilford County School System, graduating from Northeast High School in 1980. After completing school, John worked at various jobs but had a passion for the great outdoors and worked most of his years helping farm tobacco.
In his leisure time, we could always find John-John going fishing at somebody's pond. It was nothing for him to grab his fishing rod, dig up some worms and head to the fish bank.
When his health began to decline, as a patient, John spent his hours enjoying the company and conversations of his friends at Dialysis. When not at Dialysis, John spent his days at his home with his beloved companion of 7 years, Willie Mae Lasco.
John was preceded in death by his father, James Albert Thomas and sister, Vickey Rejean Ophelia Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, two children, Jonathan Thomas (Danielle), of Reidsville and Jamaica Thomas of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Love Thomas, Jeremiah Thomas and Promise Thomas of Reidsville; mother, Ophelia Powell and stepfather, Bartow Frank Powell both of Greensboro; one sister, Denise M. Thomas; one brother, Steven M. Thomas of Greensboro; two step-sisters, Darlene Powell of Greensboro and Shelia Powell of Burlington; four step-brothers, Frank Powell (Vickie), and Tracey Powell both of Burlington, Joseph Powell (Marcia) of Florida, and Dayton Powell of High Point; three special nephews, Eric Thomas (Patricia), Donte Thomas, and Cedric Thomas all of Greensboro; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.
