Josie Mae Wheeler Harrell was born on November 1, 1936 to the late Joseph and Hazel Wheeler. She peacefully departed this life on February 28, 2014 at her residence. She was married to the late Nolie Harrell, Sr. To this union 11 children were born. She was preceded in death by her oldest son James Harrell. She was a faithful member of Bride of Christ Tabernacle. She was a faithful and dedicated wife and mother. She loved her children and God. She gave God thanks for everything, even during her illness. She would get up every morning to pray and read her bible. Her last words were, ''Come on Jesus, open the door Jesus." She leaves to cherish her memories her six sons, Nolie Harrell, Jr., Joe Harrell (Gloria), Timothy Harrell (Maxine), William Harrell (Veronica), Robert Harrell, Sr. (Denise), and Alvin Harrell; four daughters, Delois Harrell, Cassandra Harrell, Anita Lee (Vernon), and Judith Hill (Kelvin) all of Ahoskie. Her nephews and nieces she raised as her own, Gregory, Donald, Toni and Neal Holloman, all of Washington, DC; two brothers, Joe Wheeler (Mary), of Fayetteville and Joseph Darden (Mary) of Maryland; five sisters, Velma Holloman of Washington, DC, Lois Napier of Amherst, VA., Mary Alice Harrell of Chesapeake, VA, Vertie Wheeler of Maryland, and Lula Mae Overton of Florida; one sister-in-law, Janice Smith; 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 3 .great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
