Mrs. Juanita Hamilton Gray, (Neet) (87) of 5540 Foster Road, Woodleaf, NC. Life began on December 24, 1935 in Iredell County. The youngest daughter of the late Edward and Jessie Phifer Hamilton. Because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. After 87 years on this earth, she quietly departed this life on September 4, 2023, surrounded by her devoted family. She left this earthly home to get her reward in her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 year of blissful marriage, Bishop Willie Joe Gray, Sisters: Lucille Hamilton, Lillie Patterson and Eddie Mae Morrison, Brothers: William Hamilton, Edward A. Hamilton and a son Joseph Craig Gray. During her life on this earth Juanita accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was very dedicated to her Church family and community. First Lady Juanita was a graduate of Morningside High, where she was elected Miss Morningside High and Miss Statesville in 1956. She also attended several courses at Mitchell Community College. She was employed by Davis Medical Center in the Dietary department. After completing her training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), she moved to the Nursing Department and worked as a CNA for many years. She later became the Supervisor of the Environmental Department. She was awarded the Dr. Thomas F. Frist Humanitarian Award in 1984. First Lady Juanita retired from Davis Medical Center with 48 years of dedication and devoted service. Upon her retirement from Davis Medical Center, she donated her time, knowledge and skills to the Helping Hand Ministries and the Women Pregnancy Centers in Salisbury, NC. Early in her life she was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Statesville, NC. During her marriage to Bishop Willie Joe Gray, she moved her membership to New Jerusalem Holiness Church. She was one of original member of Freedom United Church of God, where she served as the First Lady, faithful and hardworking member. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone she met. The positive impact she had on the lives of many people was tremendous. Daughter-in-law: Melba Cindale Gray Nelson (Michael), Hickory, NC. First Lady Juanita was more than just a mother, she was a loving Granny to Re'Keshia Shanel and Reginald DeVonte Hamilton, Angel Cintisha Teloria and Jasmine Victoria Gray. We are thankful for the 23 months she was able to love on her great-granddaughter Cinlee Jo Ramseur. She never let the love die from the passing of her son Joseph Craig Gray. She also leaves two brothers-in-law: Bishop E. L. Gray (Evelyn), Statesville, NC and Raymond Gray (Dorothy) Woodleaf, NC; five sisters-in-law: Addie Burnett, Kernersville, NC, Thelma Lazenby, Salisbury, NC, Naomi Watkins (Leon), Mary Jo Imes (Leon) and Alice Cleveland all of Woodleaf, NC. Special Sisters: Mary Lois Gray, Henrietta Gray, Woodleaf, NC and Irene Steele of Harmony, NC, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, co-workers, church members, neighbors, and friends. Funeral Arrangements: Saturday, September 9th, visitation at 12 Noon, followed by service at 1 p.m., Freedom United Church of God, Woodleaf, N.C. Interment Church Cemetery.
