Rev. Mary Louise Keaton, age 95, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 in Salisbury, North Carolina. She was born on November 23, 1927 to the late Pomp Keaton and Mary Keaton in Iredell County.
Mary was known for her loving nature and caring demeanor and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mary's last job was as a nursing assistant at Piedmont Village in Statesville, North Carolina. Her dedication and compassion made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for. Her faith played an important role in her life, guiding her actions and providing her with strength and solace. In 1971 Elder Floyd Campbell, Sister Mary Keaton and Pastor Parks started a church by the name of Miracle Revival Center. They were joined by Brother Charles Gillespie, Rev. Blunt and family. They were known for having "Shut-ins, fasting and praying all night." She departed as a longtime member of Moore's Chapel. Mary was a strong prayer warrior and believed everything would be alright, no matter what the problem was. In her free time, Mary enjoyed pursuing her hobbies. She had a passion for cooking and appreciated hosting family gatherings. She would prepare delicious meals that brought loved ones together. Mary also found joy in attending church services, where she would be known for praising God. Mary Louise Keaton leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and compassion. Her kind spirit and selfless nature will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Mary Louise Keaton was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Pomp Keaton and Mary Keaton; siblings, Jim Keaton, Anna Keaton, Haywood Keaton, Lester Keaton, Joseph P. Keaton, Josephine Rhinehardt and John Keaton; adopted son and daughter, James Partson and Mert Keaton.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Juanita Summers; two sons, James P. Hunt and Charles B. Keaton; grandchildren, Charity Summers, Chona Parks, Charles Summers Jr., (Khadeja), Charles Keaton II, Malik Briggs and Charleza Jones; Great Grandchildren, Ja'Bria Summers, Davian Summers, Yasmine Summers, Tahleel Summers, Janiyah Summers, Zai'Quan Summers, Tyrell Parker, Isiah Parker, Ke'Onsia Summers, and Davion Summers; a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends that she loved.
Funeral arrangements will be held, Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Miracle Faith Tower, 1124 Goldsboro Avenue, Statesville, North Carolina 28677, with visitation at 1 p.m., followed by service 2 p.m.. Interment will be in Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery, Cleveland, North Carolina.
