Mr. James Samuel Waters, born on June 27, 1943, in Douglas, GA, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family and a life marked by integrity and dedication.
Throughout his 83 years, Mr. Waters touched the lives of many, first as a beloved son to Louie and Louiee Waters, both of whom preceded him in death. His life began in the warm community of Douglas, a setting that helped shape his values and character.
Mr. Waters’s adult life was distinguished by his unwavering commitment to his family. He shared a deep and enduring partnership with his wife, Martha Waters, whose companionship and support were constant sources of strength. Together, they built a loving home, nurturing a family that stands as a testament to their shared values.
He is survived by his children: Joseph Waters and his wife Tonya, Karen Waters Kral, and Julie Waters Bonavitacola; each of whom carries forward his legacy of steadfastness and care. His memory lives on through his grandchildren—Callie, Marsh, Isaiah Thomas, Christion Waters, Caleb Waters, Cadence Waters, Matthew Mecklenburg, and William McDonald—who were each a source of pride and joy to him. He was also cherished by his great-grandchildren: Payton, Brinley, Darien, Henley, and Blake, reminders of the generations his influence will continue to guide and inspire.
Mr. Waters faced the sorrow of losing his son, James Waters, and his sister, Rosalyn Gilreath, whose memories remained close to his heart. He leaves behind a family bound by love and shaped by the example he set, including numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose lives he touched in meaningful and enduring ways.
