Justin Franklin October 6, 1992 – January 27, 2026

Justin Franklin, born on October 6, 1992, passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 33.

Justin was a devoted father, a cherished son, and a deeply loved member of a close-knit family. Above all else, he was immensely proud to be the father of his beloved son, Zachariah Lawing, who will carry on Justin’s legacy, strength, and spirit.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Smith Sr. and Emma Jane Fisher Ellis, both of Cleveland, North Carolina, and Willie and Dorothy Miller of Concord, North Carolina.

He is survived by his loving mother, Reverend Sheila Bush, who raised him with values that shaped the man he became, and his father, David Franklin (Angela).

Justin’s older brother, Gregory Burroff-Smith (wife Jennifer Burroff-Smith), was a source of guidance, protection, and steady support. He is also survived by his step-siblings, Jaquale and Nakia.

He is further survived by many cousins and two special aunts, Carolyn Smith and Rachel Smith. Justin was a beloved cousin to many and a proud uncle to Khloe, Emma, and Jaxson Burroff-Smith, holding a special place in the hearts of his extended family, who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Justin was proud of his academic accomplishments, graduating from North Carolina State University in 2016. He understood the significance of this achievement and carried it as a source of pride, knowing that younger generations were watching and learning from his example.

Those who knew Justin will remember him for his beautiful smile and kind demeanor. Though his life was cut far too short, Justin’s impact will endure through his son, his family, and all who loved him.

A celebration of Justin’s life will be held on February 12, 2026, at 12:30 p.m., at Fairview Heights Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Rd., Salisbury, NC 28144. A burial procession will follow.
