Mr. Michael Wayne Beard

Michael Wayne Beard, 72, of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. Born on June 13, 1954, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Michael was the son of the late James Oliver Beard II and Betsy Dawn Micham Beard.

Michael grew up in Charlotte alongside his three brothers and one sister. During his childhood, he enjoyed participating in soapbox derbies, Pinewood Derby races, and yo-yo competitions. He later attended DeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his degree and met the woman who would become his wife.

Throughout his life, Michael was known as a man of few words but a man with an abundance of love to give. He was talented with his hands and could fix just about anything. He especially enjoyed fishing and slalom skiing on Lake Norman, building and flying remote-controlled (RC) airplanes, and working outdoors on cars and boats while listening to NASCAR races. He also cherished playing Yahtzee with his family. One of his greatest joys was spending time on the lake, where he created many lasting memories.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 45 years, Cynthia Beard; his children, Seth Beard and Brittany Howard; and his siblings, James Beard III, Donald Beard, Betsy Beard, and Wade Beard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oliver Beard II and Betsy Dawn Micham Beard.

In honor of Michael's life and legacy, the family kindly asks that those who knew him perform an act of kindness in his memory.

Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his quiet strength, loving heart, remarkable talents, and the many cherished memories he leaves behind.
