Mr. Michael Wayne Jackson

Mr. Michael Wayne Jackson, 45, of Salisbury, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, January 9, 2026, in Salisbury, NC. He was the beloved son of Magdelene Barnes and the late Michael Wayne Barnes, both of Salisbury, NC.

Michael was born on January 16, 1980, in Rowan County, North Carolina. He attended North Rowan High School in Spencer, NC, where he graduated and proudly participated in the sports he loved—basketball, football, and track and field. His passion for athletics reflected his energetic spirit, determination, and strong sense of teamwork.

Michael was a former member of Tower of Power United Holy Church in Salisbury, NC. He was known for his kind heart, strong presence, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Above all, Michael was a devoted and loving father to his five children, whom he treasured deeply. Family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in being present for those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Wayne Barnes; his grandmother, Della Mae Barnes; his grandfather, Harold N. Garner; his grandparents, Lois Mamie Jackson and John Eddie Jackson; and his niece, Taji Perry.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Magdelene J. Barnes of the home; two sisters, Cora “Dorene” House of Concord, NC, and Shameka Jackson of Salisbury, NC; his five children, Izeria Wilson of Mooresville, NC, Marley Jackson and Mikenna Jackson of Concord, NC, Makai Jackson of Eden, NC, and Xi’Raiya Jackson of Salisbury, NC; and his nieces and nephew, Janaysia White and Jeremiah Jackson of Salisbury, NC, Janiya White of Durham, NC, and Nasya Walker of Concord, NC. He is also fondly remembered by a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by the service at 12:30 p.m. at Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 E. Cemetery Street, Salisbury, NC. Interment will follow at City Memorial Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
