Mr. William Leon Imes, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. He was born on August 6, 1942, in Iredell County to the late Ervin Imes and Katie Imes Summers of Statesville, North Carolina.
William was a hardworking and dedicated man who was last employed at Fibers Industries. He had a lifelong passion for automobiles and was well known for his ability to drive, repair, and restore vehicles. Cars were more than just a hobby they were one of his greatest joys. He proudly owned and operated Imes & Son Towing, where his strong work ethic, mechanical knowledge, and willingness to help others earned him the respect of many throughout the community.
William was a faithful member of Freedom United Church of God in Woodleaf, where he faithfully served as an elder. His unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and love for his church family were evident throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Levi Imes.
Precious and loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Mary Joanna Gray Imes of the home; his son, Gregory Lewis Imes of Burnsville; his daughter, Joanna Denise Imes Santiago (Adonis) of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Aiyanna Chawlk of Salisbury, Adanysa Santiago, Ameria Santiago, and Analia Santiago, all of Salisbury; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Kay’Lani Alexander and Kay’Wes Alexander of Salisbury, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
