With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Pauline Hawthorne Corry, age 82, who peacefully transitioned on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born on January 7, 1943, in Rowan County to the late Eddie Willie Hawthorne and Annie Wright Hawthorne. She was a proud graduate of J.C. Price High School in Salisbury NC. A woman of resilience, grace and boundless compassion. Her life's work was dedicated to the care and nurturing of others. She fulfilled that calling while previously working at Star Cleaners & Laundry and St. John Lutheran Church, Salisbury NC, where she retired and is remembered as a testament of kindness, life of service and compassion. She will be forever cherished in the hearts of the members of St. John Lutheran Church.
Pauline, affectionately known as, "Mother Corry," "Peaches" and" Ping." She was a woman of deep faith and a cherished and dedicated member of Tower of Power UHC. She served on the Pastor's Aid Ministry and as a "Mother" of the church. Her legacy of love and devotion to God and her care and commitment to those in her community and family, will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to enjoy her cooking. Also, Pauline's writing and sharing of her poetry, at family gatherings, was an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Corry; three sisters, Luvenia Hawthorne, (twins) Brenda (Troy) Rankin and Sandra (George) Miller, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory; a devoted son, Lawrence Hawthorne of the home; grandson, Jarrie Jackson of the home; special granddaughters, ChaRavia Blackmon of Winston Salem and Bonnie Hawthorne of Salisbury; seven great grands; special nieces and devoted caretaker, Sherry Hawthorne and Teresa Phillips, special niece Linda (Robert) Holland of Charlotte; godson, Anthony Johnson; a lifetime special friends, Rev. William and Patricia Turner, Linda Boyd and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Public viewing, Friday, 2-5 p.m. at Carroll-Waters Funerals and Cremations, 111 Railroad Street, Cleveland, North Carolina.
