Mr. Thomas Edward Hart

Mr. Thomas E. Hart, age 61, entered eternal retirement on October 6, 2022 at his residence. Born December 06, 1960 in Rowan County. He was the son of the late David Hart, Sr. and Margaret Hart. He attended the public schools in Rowan County and graduated from Salisbury High School. He also served in the United States Army. He received numerous awards throughout his lifetime, recognizing his dedication to duty, compassion for others and commitment to excellence, including "The Order of the Long Leaf Pine" award. He retired from the State of North Carolina Department of Public Safety after 30 years. Thomas was last employed at Hood Theological Seminary as Assistant Chief of Security. He was preceded in death by parents, David Hart Sr. and Margaret Hart; uncle, Harvey Robertson; aunts, Bessie Hart, Annie Crocker and Cora Daniels. Left to cherish his memories include wife of 34 years, Nelda Hart; children, Antonio Rankin and Jasmine Hart; siblings, David Hart Jr and Trina Hart; sister in laws, Daphine Bryant and Deanna Rankin; aunts, Betty Clapp, Mary L. Heilig, Josephine Ellis, and Rachel Y. Hart; Visitation: Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 2 p.m.. followed by service at 2:30 p.m.. Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Avenue, Salisbury, North Carolina. Burial: Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, North Carolina.
