We mournfully announce the passing of Will Smith, of Salisbury, North Carolina. Will passed away on May 18, 2024, in his sleep.
Will was born to Harold Primo and Flora Patricia Smith, on April 22, 1988, in Brooklyn, NY alongside his twin sister, Genevieve. Will stayed in Brooklyn for several years until he, his mom, and two sisters relocated to Salisbury, NC. Will attended Salisbury High School and attended RCCC to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Development as he truly loved children. One of his goals was to open a daycare one day.
Will was always a family man and had a great love for his family. He was also passionate about music. Growing up, his favorite artist was Michael Jackson and as he got older, his love for Lil' Wayne, Eminem, and Papoose ran deep. A true lyricist, Will used his craft to express his feelings and emotions about life and the world, especially his family. Will not only performed and wrote for himself, but he also wrote music for and supported the careers of other artists. He believed music was a great outlet for fulfillment, expression and so much more.
When Will wasn't writing or recording music, he played and watched another passion of his, basketball. His favorite players were Kobe Bryant and Steph Curry.
When Will's daughter, Alani aka Baby Geni, was born, it changed everything for him. She became his greatest passion and number one priority. Will left behind his twin sister Genevieve, his daughter Alani and a host of family and friends.
